Provide a broad range of technical services to the Centre including assessment, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure safe treatment of patients and minimal equipment down time.



  • Diagnose equipment failure. Conduct appropriate repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  • Arrange for repairs to be performed by external organizations and confirm work is satisfactorily completed.
  • Develop technical drawings/specifications, design and implement modifications to equipment as required.
  • Identify malfunctioning equipment to be removed from service and notify appropriate individuals to arrange for rescheduling of patients, etc.
  • Communicate with Radiation Therapy staff regarding equipment failure and with Physics staff regarding repair, upgrade, or replacement.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Inspect equipment for wear and tear.
  • Participate in installation of new equipment and maintain parts and supply inventories
  • Participate in special projects such as the design and assembly of custom electronic devices.
  • Ensure documentation of equipment maintenance and repairs in respective log books.
  • Maintain knowledge of current radiation therapy technology and attend training courses as required.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend on-call coverage and other related duties as assigned.



  • 3 year college diploma in Electrical Engineering or a 4 year Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience servicing radiation therapy equipment
  • Completion of manufacturers' training for radiation therapy equipment
  • Successful completion of manufacturer’s training courses
  • Demonstrated understanding of Radiation Therapy equipment advanced level theory.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating. diagnosing, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on the full range of Radiation Therapy equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding in the operation of dual energy linear accelerators CT simulators and components.
  • Demonstrated expertise with networked computer systems at the hardware level and related software, including embedded or proprietary systems with the ability to interface different clinical devices to the computer networks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of physics as they are applied to radiation therapy equipment.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of methods of radiation production and radiation measurement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations with respect to radiation equipment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills providing accuracy and attention to details
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experiences of Truebeam is considered an asset.
  • French Language proficiency an asset.
